SHELBY COUNTY (KYTX) - A woman is facing charges, accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old child in Shelby County.
She was caught in Tyler.
It all happened pretty fast.
A woman drove up and parked in front of a convenience store on Loop 500 in Center and went inside.
That's when the passenger made a bold move, she jumped out, got in the drivers seat, and took off with the woman's 11-year-old daughter inside.
There is surveillance video from the convenience store.
You can see the woman park her 2006 maroon Ford Focus right in front and walk inside, and what appears to be a child following her in, just before 8:30 Thursday evening.
We spoke with the store owner, he says everything seemed calm and normal, until you see the woman run outside.
Here's why, Beatrice Pittman gets out and walks to the drivers side.
Taking off in the car with her 15-year-old daughter and the 11-year-old still inside.
The other woman can be seen running out after the car as it leaves the parking lot and heads away on the loop.
Center police issued an amber alert for the 11-year-old Thursday evening.
Pittman made it all the way to Tyler before getting into a wreck just after 1 a-am, sending the two kids to the hospital to be checked out.
Pittman is facing charges both in Tyler and in Center.
The kids in the car were taken to the East Texas Medical Center to be checked for non life- threatening injuries.
The two kids that were in the car when Pittman took off from the convenience store were given back to their families by Friday morning.
Pittman is being charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.
She also has charges with Tyler police.
