Kilgore man jailed on multiple charges after leading police on two-county chase

KILGORE (KYTX) – A Kilgore man who led police on a chase through Monday night is jailed on five separate charges with bonds totaling more than $600,000.

Gregg County Sheriff's office reports on July 21st at about 7:00 PM, Gregg County Deputies responded to an aggravated assault family violence call at the EZ Mart convenience store on State Highway 135 in Kilgore.

Responding Deputies met with a female who reported that she had been assaulted by her ex-common law husband, 33 year old Robert Justin Moorhead of Kilgore.

The woman gave details of an incident that began earlier in the day at Lake Gladewater in which Gladewater Police responded and separated Moorhead and the woman to prevent violence.

When the woman left the lake, and returning home with her four children, Moorhead reportedly followed her and struck the back of the woman's vehicle with his truck.

Kilgore Police responded to assist and located Moorhead in his vehicle. Moorhead then led Kilgore Police Officers and assisting DPS units on a pursuit through Gregg and Smith Counties.

The pursuit ended in the area of Old Highway 135 in Liberty City when Moorhead crashed after hitting a DPS vehicle.

Moorhead then fled on foot and was captured a short time later. He was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center for minor injuries and was treated and released.

Moorhead has been charged with:

1. Possession of marijuana; $5000.00 bond

2. DWI; $5000.00 bond

3. Evading Arrest with a Vehicle; $25,000.00 bond

4. Aggravated Assault of a Public Servant; $500,000.00 bond

5. Aggravated Assault Family Violence; $100.000.00 bond
