KILGORE (KYTX) - On April 17, 2013 at approximately 11:50 P.M., Officers responded to the 900 Block of E. South St. in reference to gunshots being heard in the area. A second 911 call was received advising a male victim had been shot at the location. Officers arrived and determined a male victim had been shot in the chest, and a second male victim had been struck in the head with a rifle stock. Responding officers were advised two male suspects had fled the scene.
Officers observed the fleeing suspects about one block from the scene near the intersection of Houston and Martin. One of the suspects, identified as Nicholas Juan Rinche, 19 years of age from Kilgore, was apprehended by responding officers following a brief foot chase. A second suspect, identified as 19 year old Phue Thanh Nguyen of Kilgore, was captured after he approached officers taking Rinche into custody. A weapon believed to be used in the incident was recovered at the scene.
The victim, who received the gunshot wound to the chest, was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
Apparent motive of the shooting was robbery. Both subjects were jailed and charged with Aggravated Robbery a Felony.
