Kilgore police charge reverend with aggravated sexual assault of a child


UPDATE: KILGORE (KYTX) - The Rev. Glenn Douglas Barton, religious leader of Calvary Way Pentecostal Church in Kilgore, remains in the Rusk County Justice Center on $50,000 bond.

According to a search warrant filed in the Rusk County District Clerk's Office, Barton is accused of performing oral sex on the victim since 2009, when the victim was about 13-years-old.

The male victim said Barton became increasingly jealous in recent months after the victim began a relationship with a girl, according to the warrant.

Investigators also obtained a search warrant for a pair of boxer briefs believed to contain DNA evidence related to the case.



KILGORE (KYTX) -- On Monday, Kilgore Police officers responded to the 100 block of Woodlawn St. in Kilgore and arrested Glenn Douglas Barton, 62, of Kilgore.


Barton was charged with an outstanding Rusk County warrant of arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child, a felony offense.

Barton is listed as the reverend of Calvary Way Church in Kilgore in the 100 block of Woodlawn Street.

The arrest and warrant stems from an ongoing investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kilgore Police Department. This investigation was initiated after Kilgore Police Investigators received a report two weeks ago alleging Barton sexually assaulted a child. The alleged sexual abuse occurred between 2009 and 2013.

Currently this investigation has revealed no other victims; however, the investigation is still ongoing.
