Kilgore Police K-9 "Jinto" leads officers to theft suspect who fled into the woods

KILGORE (KYTX) - A man suspected of several thefts in the Kilgore area was arrested Tuesday June 6, 2014 after he fled from police when a homeowner spotted the suspect in his garage.

Kilgore Police report on June 6, 2014, Sgt. Richard Stanley responded to an address on Town Oaks Dr. in reference to a subject who ran out of a garage after being surprised by the homeowner.

During the investigation it was determined he went into two different garages. It is believed this is the same subject the Department had been attempting to identify after he was reportedly entering unlocked vehicles near the same area.

Officer Jarrett Bradberry soon arrived in the area of Stone Creek Apartments and observed the subject running after seeing the officer. Officer Bradberry relayed the information and direction of travel, advising where the grass was laid over and stayed in the area of subject entry into the grass.

K-9 Officer B.J. Burns responded to the location and attempted to track the subject.

K-9 Jinto developed a strong scent path and began tracking the wooded area near the Stone Road off ramp of the loop. Officer Bradberry and K-9 Burns / Jinto continued across Stone Road toward ETCOG and into the courtyard of Stone Ridge Apartments. K-9 Jinto tracked right to the subject who ran and after several commands to stop gave up without further incident.

19-year-old Caleb Gipson, of Kilgore was arrested and charged with Evading arrest, criminal trespass habitation X2, GCSO warrant for Assault, and Possession of Marijuana.

He was also issued a criminal trespass warning for Stone Creek Apartments. Great job of all involved who quickly set a perimeter and an Outstanding job by Officer Jarrett Bradberry and K9 Officer B.J. Burns / JINTO.
