Kilgore State of the City Address

KILGORE (KYTX) - Kilgore City Officials met with over 2 dozen business leaders for a State of the City Address Tuesday. The address was scheduled to communicate with leaders in the area and making the city's goals known. The city has underwent major projects to help entice businesses to move to Kilgore. City Manager Scott Sellers says  Kilgore has made updates to the schools, torn down 6 abandoned buildings, and has spent over a million dollars in public works projects like streets and water lines to attract new businesses.

"Everything else we do supports that mission of growth and the attraction of businesses." - Scott Sellers, City Manager

In the coming years, the city plans on improving even more. In progress is a half a million dollar beautification plan that will see the historic oil town be spruced up. It will include painting old oil jacks and tanks, and will place better signage on city entrances.
The city will also place a measure on May's ballots to lift alcohol restrictions for restaurants. It is expected to save restaurants thousands.
