EAST TEXAS (KYTX) - Three East Texas women were nominated for multiple Academy of Country Music Awards on Wednesday.
Miranda Lambert of Lindale is up for fivd awards, including "Entertainer of the Year" against her husband, Blake Shelton. She is also nominated for "Female Vocalist of the Year," "Single of the Year" and "Song of the Year" as the artist and again as the song's composer.
Lambert's song "Over You," co-written with Shelton is the single up for single and song of the year. The song is about the loss of Shelton's brother when he was younger.
For top honors in the female vocalist category, Lambert faces Martina McBride, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and fellow East Texan Kacey Musgraves of Golden.
Musgraves is also nominated for "Video of the Year" for her song "Merry Go' Round and for "New Female Vocalist of the Year." Joining Lambert and Musgraves on the ACM nominee list is Sunny Sweeney, born in Houston, and raised in Longview.
Sweeney is nominated for "New Female Vocalist of the Year" along with Musgraves.
Lambert is the ACM's reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year.
The 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards will air April 7 on CBS.
