Legacy continues for new dormitory at Wiley College

MARSHALL/HARRISON COUNTY (KYTX) - For the last five years the inside of what was known as Moon's Dry Cleaners was a vacant. The owner Ken Moon said he knew he needed to make changes and fast.

"One of the last wishes that my dad had was that he wanted to keep this building in particular in the family name."

And then it hit him..

"Woke up one night and said I know what to do, I'm going to turn that into a mini dorm for Wiley students."

Now the building that stood as a popular dry cleaners for over 70 years, is called 'Castle Apartments,' a seven room men's dormitory for Wiley College students.

"Actually I've been in the Hotels with Wiley for 3 years and it got old real fast."

Senior Christopher Holland just moved in Saturday and is already enjoying his new home.

"You get the relationships with roommates, but not actually have to be in the room with them, you can have your own privacy to fall back on when you need to be by yourself."

"Its a good learning environment because it's a lot of people here that are trying to make something of themselves."

Senior Darrel Tipp says for $400 a month, the free wifi, cable, living room and spacious kitchen is a plus.

One of the amenities that the seven men who live at the Castle Apartments say they enjoy the most is their free washer and dryers, and the fact that they don't have to share them with thousands of students on the campus of Wiley College."

"You have to be a junior or senior and carry a 3.0 G.P.A."

"He definitely didn't have to open this place and I think everyone here and the future people that will live here will appreciate it very much."
