LETU Hosts Annual Art Show

LONGVIEW (KYTX) -  Dozens of sketches, paintings, and photos all on display at the Abbott Aviation Center in Longview.  LETU Professor and Art Show Organizer Phil Rispin says in just two years, he's amazed at what he's learned about his students.

"Last year, it was like taking a lid off of a box. We had no idea the talents of our students."
The art show is free, and lasts till Friday.  It displays art related to flying. Planes, pilots, mechanics.
"I love aviation, it's my favorite thing. And I really want to spread the enjoyment around to others.
"Entrants are hoping to bring home cash prizes" - Kevin Boyce
Viewers fill out ballots and vote for which photos and paintings are best. Winners take home money given by area donors.  Last year, the art show was just for LETU students, this year it was open to all of East Texas.
"This is just one facet that somebody can do with aviation. Aviation is a very aesthetic activity,  and it's a bit of an art to fly an airplane"
Rispin says since LeTournaeu doesn't have a Fine Arts Program this is a way to show off these students' skills.
