East Texas voters living in the Texas House sixth district will have a second choice on November's ballot. A new Libertarian is throwing his hat into the ring.
Joel Gardner has never run for office. But he's hoping to fight federal laws like the Affordable Care Act with state efforts aimed at nullifying what's already been passed.
"If I can reach enough people I should get all the democratic vote because most democrats pretty much think they're voting for freedom even though when it comes down to it they're not," Gardner said. "And republicans think they're voting for small government. When it comes down to it they're not. They're really two sides of the same coin."
Depending on who wins the March primary, Gardner will go up against either Skip Ogle or Matt Schaefer--both Republicans--in the November election.
