TYLER (KYTX) - Losing weight can be a challenge, and months after the Fit City challenge, Lighten Up East Texas kicked off. Participants came together Saturday for the big conclusion
Rose Stadium was filled with weight lost challenge participants and their families. Those that came stayed active by playing golf, soccer, frisbee and many other sports.
After six months, this event was a chance to bring everyone back together.
"There were 3200 people that signed up that had weighed in at the beginning.
And that started on November the third at Bergfeld park in Tyler," said Terrence Ates with Lighten Up East Texas.
Duane Dougherty signed up for Lighten Up East Texas in a month after the event started and he's seen some substantial weight lost. "I've lost 24 pounds since I started in January, so I was excited about that," said Dougherty.
People with the highest weight lost were put into a drawing where 10 prizes were handed out. Some of the bigger prizes was a brand new car and a $5,000 vacation package.
