Limited seats available to take written version of GED in Kilgore and Longview

(KYTX) - Time is running out for students to take the current written version of the GED test because beginning January 2014, the GED test format will be computer-based only and the fee to test will increase from about $27 to $135.

"The last time the GED test was updated like this was in 2002," said Dawn Wilson, KC—Longview testing center manager. "Those who do not pass all portions of the 2002 version of the GED test will have to start over in 2014."

Both the Longview and Kilgore testing centers will offer limited spots to take the 2002 written version of the GED test this semester.

The written GED test is administered over a two-day period.

The Longview testing center will offer the test 10 more times: Sept. 23-24, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Oct. 7-8, Oct. 14-15, Oct. 21-22, Oct. 28-29, Nov. 4-5, Nov. 11-12, Nov. 18-19 and Dec. 2-3.

Registration deadline for the Longview testing center is the Thursday prior to each test.

Two more paper administrations of the 2002 GED will be offered at the Kilgore testing center Oct. 8-9 and Nov. 5-6.

Registration deadline for each Kilgore testing session is the Monday prior to the test.
