LISD administrator selected for 2012 alumni award

LONGVIEW/GREGG COUNTY (KYTX) - Longview ISD Assistant Superintendent Jody Clements has been selected to receive the 2012 Alumni Award for Achievement and Merit from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Clements and four other UAM alumni – including the director of Arkansas' largest environmental policy and regulatory agency – will be honored by the university on October 12 for their professional achievements.

"This is a distinguished group and each has earned the right to be honored by the university," Chancellor Jack Lassiter said. "We are honoring individuals who have excelled in business, education, law, public service and the military. We are honored to be able to recognize their achievements."

Clements, who attended UAM on a track scholarship, earned a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1987.  He also holds an MBA in accounting from Louisiana Tech and certifications from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Professionally, Clements in September became Longview ISD's assistant superintendent for administrative and pupil services after serving as Kilgore ISD's superintendent since 2007. He has also taught, coached and served in administrative positions at private and public schools.
