LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Longview I.S.D's search for a new superintendent has dragged for eight months.
Trustees have named a lone finalist, but people in the district say they are frustrated with the time delay.
Finding that leader is apparently easier said than done.Since November, trustees have looked for a successor to Dr. James Wilcox, who is retiring next January.
On May 21 -- the board unanimously picked Assistant Superintendent Horace Williams.
But during contract negotiations, some trustees soured on Williams, while allegations of cronyism and bullying surfaced about Williams from his days as superintendent at Cedar Hill I.S.D.
Monday, trustees voted to stay their search.According to LISD, Wilcox's contract expires in January. He's agreed to help in the transition period whenever trustees officially hire his successor.
