Lobo football players suspended after incident at Walmart store

Lobo football players suspended after incident at Walmart store

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - Several Longview high school football players aren't suiting up for games this week, after a reported incident inside a Longview retailer.

Last night, Longview I.S.D.'s Education Foundation hosted a green-out pep rally and fundraiser at Chick-Fil-A on East Loop 281.

Some of the Lobo players, dressed in their team jerseys, walked next door to a Walmart store.

Inside Walmart, customers witnessed players screaming and running through store aisles, knocking over some items.

This morning, L.I.S.D. Athletic Director and Head Football Coach John King met with store personnel and a school resource officer.

King tells CBS 19 that several players have been suspended from the football program.

He would not say exactly how many players or whether they were from varsity or sub-varsity teams.

Longview police officer Kristie Brian says Walmart does not intend to pursue charges against the students.
