Local governments considering property tax rates for 2014

LONGVIEW (KYTX) - East Texas cities, counties and school districts are making decisions that might affect your wallet. Thursday night, Longview City Council members will consider adopting a higher tax rate for 2014.

Gregg County commissioners will consider keeping the same rate for the third year in a row on Sept. 15.

The city of Longview wants to raise its property tax rate nearly two percent. Residents can speak to council members about it during a public hearing Thursday night. It begins at 5:30 at city hall.
