Local universities eye TISD bond endorsements

TYLER (TYLER MORNING TELEGRAPH) - Local higher education officials are slated to endorse the Tyler ISD bond proposal during a news conference tomorrow.

Three presidents and one higher education administrator will endorse the bond on behalf of The University of Texas at Tyler, UT Health Northeast, Texas College and Tyler Junior College, according to a Tyler Proud news release.

Tyler Proud is a community organization that supports the bond's passage. The endorsement of the higher education leaders is the second announced by the group. Sen. Kevin Eltife also has endorsed the bond.

The $160.5 million proposal includes six projects. They are the construction of a career and technical education center; the construction of three new middle schools: Boulter, Moore and one in southwest Tyler; and the remodel of Rice and Dixie elementary schools.
