5,200 marijuana plants discovered in Anderson County

Earlier Tuesday, Anderson County Sheriff deputies found a camp site the Mexican drug cartel is running.

ANDERSON COUNTY - Anderson County Sheriff's Office received a tip of a possible marijuana growth on County Road 336 between Palestine and Frankston.
When deputies arrived on scene they were able to locate the camp site along with 5,200 marijuana plants.
According to Anderson Co. Sheriff Greg Taylor, DPS, Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Smith County Sheriff's Office and multiple other agencies are working this "joint operation."
Taylor said they are actively searching for suspects with dogs near the camp site.
Taylor confirmed this bust is connected to the other Mexican drug cartel grows in East Texas.
"The drugs found are worth about $6 million," Taylor said. "If the drugs were sold then the money would go back to the cartel's sex trafficking, gun running, meth operations and other activities."
