Child suffers life-threatening injuries in major Tyler traffic accident

Emergency crews responded to a major traffic accident involving a 4-year-old boy in front of a Dollar General Store in Tyler Thursday evening. 
 
According to Tyler Police Department, at 3:03 p.m. a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a 27-year-old man was traveling east on West Gentry Parkway and crossed the westbound lanes of traffic and exited the roadway on the north side of West Gentry Parkway.
 
The Hyundai Santa Fe continued to travel east through a small stand of trees and into the parking lot of the Dollar General Store. The Hyundai Santa Fe then struck a Ford F-150 head on that was driven by a 34-year-old woman. The woman was preparing to exit the store parking lot when her vehicle was struck. The Ford F-150 rolled from the impact and came to rest on its side. The woman was partially ejected from the Ford F-150.
 
The driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe was carrying a 4-year-old boy in the back seat of the vehicle. The 4-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries. The boy was in a child safety seat.
 
All three were transported to ETMC. 
 
Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the accident.
