Cindy brings rain, not flooding, to Lufkin area.

Lufkin residents brace for high winds and flooding but only receive rain from tropical storm Cindy.

Tropical Storm Cindy brought rain to the Lufkin area on Thursday but did not cause major flooding.

According to the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, the heaviest rain fell during morning hours, causing several wrecks and delays for commuters.

“We had a major wreck around 630, then another one around 7,” said Captain Lenderman.

However, by noon, rain had stopped in many areas around Lufkin.

Light drizzle continued off and on Thursday, with more rain expected overnight but no flooding is expected.
