Community holds candlelight vigil to remember boy scouts

Friends and family members gathered at Hallsville City Park on Sunday to remember the boy scouts lost in a fatal boat accident at Lake O' the Pines on Ally Creek.

Two boys aged 16 and 18 passed away after their sailboat collided with a power line. 11-year old Thomas Larry was taken to a local hospital following the accident.

His status is unknown at this time.

One of Larry's fifth grade teachers, Katy Williams, was at the candlelight vigil and said teaching Larry was a delight.

"Thomas was one of those students that you really want in your class. He’s smart. He’s well behaved. He’s respectful and he just has the perfect amount of goofy-ness that he brings to the table," Williams said.

Boy scout members, teachers, and friends sang "Amazing Grace" and shared stories about the boys lost in the accident.
