Joy Johnson with Northeast Texas Public Health said that Center for Healthy Living covers the cost of mammograms for women who want them.
“its for uninsured and under-insured. so even if you do have insurance and a high deductible, we can still help,” Johnson said.
Ronna Best, a breast nurse navigator at Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital, said that conducting self-exams is the best way to catch breast cancer early.
“1 in 8 women are going to have breast cancer. If we can find it early that helps to prevent more in-depth treatments, chemotherapy. we can skip chemotherapy if it is detected early,” Best said.
