DPS identifies man who died in weekend standoff

LONGVIEW - DPS identified the man who died on Saturday, Aug. 19 2017 after barricading himself in a vehicle.

Reginal Bussle, 36, from Grand Prairie threatened to harm himself earlier that day and was also involved in a domestic dispute. Using Onstar, authorities tracked his vehicle to Gregg County near the Harrison County line where they were able to disable the vehicle.

Before it was shut down, the vehicle was traveling over 100 miles per hour down I-20.

Bussle refused to leave the SUV and fired several rounds toward law enforcement. Despite crisis negotiations, DPS said Bussle died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Several teams responded to the area, including Harrison County DPS and the Longview Police Department’s SWAT team.

During the standoff, traffic was diverted on I-20 from highway 450 in Hallsville to highway 281 in Longview.

Texas Rangers will continue to investigate the case.
