East Texans celebrate National Ice Cream Day

National Ice Cream Day

LONGVIEW - East Texans love their ice cream and are enjoying National Ice Cream Day 2017. On July 9th, 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed this holiday to be celebrated every 3rd Sunday in July.

More than 1.58 billion gallons of the treat is eaten every year in the United States.

Here in East Texans several local creameries are packed with hungry ice cream fans.

"This is a great summer treat to enjoy with your friends." Ice cream lover Maria Jimenez said. "Anything can be solved with a big scoop of ice cream."

Some East Texans tell me chocolate, vanilla and pistachio are their favorite flavors, but one person says here's is fruity pebbles.
