East Texas churches praying for Texas church shooting victims

LONGVIEW - Sunday's horrific shooting has brought sadness to many East Texas church congregations. Church leaders are now trying to comfort their church families.

Mobberly Baptist Church Senior Pastor, Dr. Glynn Stone, Jr, says these kind of tragic events don't turn people away from God, but instead bring more to him.

"There is a lot of fear across the country and some even are scared to go to church now," Pastor Stone says. "Congregations will now become closer and stronger through their faith."

Pastor Stone advises people to turn to scripture for help dealing with difficult times.

One of the bible verses he mentioned was Psalm 11:4- The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on Earth.

Mobberly Baptist Church and several other East Texas congregations have security that are prepared for dangerous situations.

Pastor Stone says church will always be a place of peace and hope.
