TYLER - Many East Texas Veterans are speaking out against NFL athletes taking a knee during the National Anthem.
Athletes say they are taking a knee to protest racial injustice in America. Veterans say they are almost at a loss of words when they saw players kneeling.
One veteran considers this kind of protesting the worst way to disrespect the memory of fallen soldiers.
“They are low down yellow dogs,” World War II Army Veteran A.V. Bice says, “If they don’t like it then they need to leave.”
Some Veterans across the country are in support of athletes kneeling during the National Anthem.
A picture of 97 year old John Middlemas has gone viral. The World War II Veteran is kneeling in the picture.
His grandson calls him an ally of civil rights and social justice.
