ETX parents plan ahead for safe Halloween

Like many East Texas families,  Monique Marsh and Zacharia Williams went shopping for Halloween costumes with their kids on Sunday.

According to Marsh and Williams, planning ahead is crucial.

To keep their kids safe while trick-or-treating, Marsh said that parents should get creative and give their kids “name tags to wear with contact information on them.”

Other tips include traveling in groups, wearing brightly colored costumes or clothing, and bringing back up batteries for flash lights.

Williams said that parents should also “check the candy just to make sure.”

Any partially wrapped pieces or items that don’t look familiar should be thrown out.

For Marsh and Williams, planning ahead is key to having a memorable and fun Halloween.
