LONGVIEW - Some Longview non-profits and Amtrak are working to help veterans find transportation to the hospital.
On Thursday, veterans and GoVet team members cut the ribbon for the new veteran service.
The service will provide transportation for veterans in Camp, Harrison, Gregg, Marion, Panola, Rusk and Upshur counties to the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, starting on November 14, the bus will pick up veterans at their homes or other locations and take them all the way to Louisiana.
The cost is $30 for a round trip ticket, but financial assistance is available.
