Grand Jury to meet on alleged abuses cases at Crockett facility

CROCKETT - Houston Serenity Place in Crockett remains under investigation by several state agencies for alleged abuse and neglect of numerous foster children.

In an updated statement to CBS19, Chief Cross with the Crockett Police Department said he's never seen anything like this in his community.

Two detectives are working the case and no arrests have been made. Chief Cross said a Grand Jury will meet on Nov. 4 to discuss some of the cases.

From Shari Pulliam Media Specialist Child Protective Services:

We are working with law enforcement to ensure that the youth who are living at Serenity Place are safe and any allegations of abuse or neglect are promptly investigated. As a newly-licensed facility, our Residential Child Care Licensing inspectors as well as Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers are also making regular visits to ensure that the youth are getting the appropriate services and treatment.
