Hope Haven: First long-term home for foster girls nears completion

LINDALE - An East Texas non-profit is lending a helping hand for foster girls in need, set to debut the Hope Haven home in Lindale on August 18.

It's the first long-term home for teen foster girls in East Texas. sitting on 6.4 acres of property and built to house up to 16 girls, ages 13 to 17.

Their goal is to provide a safe and loving home for young girls that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. 

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Paul Christman, said it will help them achieve success later in life.

"That involves quite a few areas. It involves life skills, education. It involves oftentimes treatment of disorders. These girls are considered kids from hard places," Christman said.

Construction of the home officially began in January of 2016. 

Hope Haven's ribbon cutting is Friday, August 18 and will be free and open to the public for the weekend.
