How to protect your plants from freezing temperatures

Protecting your plants

It's time to start thinking about your plants.

Bushes, flowers, and herbs can all be susceptible to the cold weather.

When the temperature drops one of the best things to do is bring plants inside the garage, house, or apartment.

If that's not an option, using burlap or a plant blanket to cover them will help protect them. If you cover your plants, assistant manager at Home Depot, Joe Leach, says make sure to water the plants very well and then make sure the burlap or plant blanket reaches all the way to the ground.

If you choose to do neither of those options Leach recommends putting an extra layer of soil or mulch down, but that's not a guaranteed protection.
