Watching the clouds roll in, Hurricane Katrina evacuee Ada Fahrenholt said that she never expected to lose her home in New Orleans.
“Kilgore was the first place we could find that accepted pets,” Fahrenholt said.
After losing her home in the storm, Ada and her family decided to say in Kilgore.
“We were welcomed into this community with open arms," Fahrenholt said.
Ada’s son Joshua, who owns and operates Two Brothers Po’ Boy Sandwich Shop in downtown Kilgore, said that he loves bringing the culture of New Orleans to East Texas.
Something the Fahrenholt family plans on doing
Louisiana, my heart is there, but this is my community," Fahrenholt said.
