IAFF Peer Support Training held in Longview

Longview Peer Support Training

There is a growing concern about mental health issues and the impact on a firefighters' wellness after responding to devastating and traumatic events.

Peer support programs have been demonstrated to be an effective method for providing support groups, including firefighters. 

That's why the Longview Professional Firefighters Association teamed up with the International Firefighters Association to hold a Peer Support Training in Longview, TX. 

Incidents involving children, violence, inherent dangers and other potentially traumatic events are just a few of the things firefighter go through eight  to 20 times a day. This can have a cumulative impact on their mental health and well-being. 

Participants will be IAFF Trained Peer Supporters and have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide support to their peer and educate brothers and sisters about behavioral health including, PTSD and resilience.
