Longview first responders honored

Longview citizens give thanks to local first responder crews.

LONGVIEW - In remembrance of '9/11', one way to say 'thank you' to the: Longview Police, Fire Department and Gregg County Sheriff's Office was to hold luncheon for them. It was hosted by the people at Hospitality Health Emergency Room.

Drew Allison has been with the Longview police for 10 years. He said the moment he received his badge, he knew being a police policeman was his calling.

"I get up and go to work everyday and I think 'I can't believe I get paid for this," Allison said.

Allison is a first responder and works patrol in the early mornings until late in the afternoon. Even though his job requires a lot from him, he said the community's support motivates him to be better.

"I feel really blessed to work with the Longview police department and work for the people of Longview," Allison said.

During the luncheon, the Hospitality Health ER also surprised the fire department with a donation of 10 thousand water bottles.
