Longview man behind bars after stealing ambulance

LONGVIEW - Daniel Shaklee is under arrest for stealing an ambulance while he was being transported to the hospital at his own request on Wednesday at the 400 block of Glover Drive.

Law enforcement revealed that after Shaklee requested to be taken to the hospital, he exited the ambulance during his transport and ran into a wooded area.

He was located by paramedics and officers soon after he fled, at which point, he decided to go back to the hospital.

Shaklee then refused medical treatment and left the hospital.

After leaving, he then stole one of the Longview Fire Department Ambulances and left the area.

He was found by a Longview Fire Marshal at Methvin Street and High Street and taken into custody.

There were no reported damages to the ambulance.

Shaklee was given a medical clearance and taken to the hospital.

He is now under arrest in Gregg County Jail where he is charged with Theft equal to or exceeding $300,000, a felony charge.
