LONGVIEW - Longview has seen a total of eight homicides, so far, in 2016. In 2015, the city had a record high of 15, but the police don't want people to forget about the victims in cold cases.
The Longview police department gave CBS 19 a list of 10 unsolved homicides, some dating back to 1998. Pictures are provided, along with a description of where and how they were killed. Police spokesperson Kristi Brian said the longer it takes to solve unsolved cases, the harder it is for them to find answers.
"It is frustrating when you look at them and say 'well we still have another year that this one is not solved'," Brian said. "They [families of victims] live for months, years not knowing what happened to their loved one. If you can bring someone to justice or say 'this is what happened' that helps those family with closure."
In all these cases, Brian said some one knows something. No matter how minute the details are, investigators said it could be the information they need to crack these cases.
The department said they plan to release more names of victims of homicide victims as the year progresses.
