Longview Police: Road rage ends in grocery store parking lot shooting

SPRING HILL - UPDATE: According to the Longview Police Department, the altercation this morning that sent one person to the hospital was due to a road rage incident.

Cody Joshua Blood, 23, and Robert Lee Walton, Jr., 40, were both driving on Hawkins Parkway when their actions while driving resulted in a confrontation in the Brookshire's parking lot Wednesday morning.

Blood was shot and remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Walton was questioned at the scene and released.

The investigation is ongoing, and findings will be presented to the Gregg County DA. Officers are also filing charges of aggravated assault.

One person was taken to a local hospital and another has been detained after an altercation in a grocery parking lot ended in a shooting.

According to Sgt. Shane McCarter, the shooting happened around 10 a.m. Wed. morning. An altercation in the parking lot at Brookshire's at the corner of Gilmer Road and Hawkins Parkway ended with one person being shot and taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Police have detained the other person, but have not yet made an arrest.

No word on the condition of the victim, and names have not yet been released.
