Longview Thanksgiving Food Drive provides food for thousands

Hormel and Brookshire's team up to fight holiday hunger.

LONGVIEW - The 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in Longview is helping 1,400 families have a Thanksgiving meal.

Today was distribution day at Maude Cobb Convention Center. The event started at 12 but many families got in line early.

They received a turkey, green beans, corn and other traditional Thanksgiving foods.

We spoke to some families who tell us they are truly grateful for the food.

“This is a blessing from God to receive this food,” Willie Mae Reese says. “We thank God for all of this.”

More than 200 volunteers helped organize the food for the event.

Many of them tell us giving back to others is what thanksgiving is all about.
