Lufkin PD offers training for active shooter situations

LUFKIN - The Lufkin Police Department will offer free sanctuary security training at Pitser Garrison Convention center this month.

Sergeant Randy Brooks will lead the training and talk about various ways civilians can use to survive an active shooter situation, following the "ADD" method- Avoid, Deny, Defend.

Training sessions will be offered 

  • 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Church by Jesus Christ (1701 Sayers St.)
  • 9 a.m. Nov. 13 at Pitser Garrison Convention Center - Texas Room (601 N. 2nd St.)
  • 6:30 p.m. Nov.16 at Pitser Garrison Convention Center - Texas Room (601 N. 2nd St.)

These training sessions are free to the public at the request of many local pastors after the church shooting in San Antonio that killed several people.

Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to join the free sessions.
