Lufkin man behind bars after aggravated robbery

LUFKIN - Andrea Franks-Vanzandt, a 21-year-old Lufkin man is under arrest after burglarizing a Lucky's Convenience store and assaulting an employee at around 12:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Lufkin.

Police reveal that Franks-Vanzandt arrived to Lucky's, waited in line in front of the register for a short time and then assaulted and stole $35 from Richard Lee Archer, a 35-year old Angelina County man.

Archer was punched kicked and stomped on by Franks-Vanzandt repeatedly until Archer became unconsious. 

Both men did not know each other and no words were exchanged before the assault began.

Franks-Vanzandt fled the store on foot after he assaulted Archer and was then arrested about 10 minutes later by Officer Dean Estes.

Archer is currently in the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to recover.

Franks-Vanzandt is being held in the Angelina County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
