The potential impact of the GOP healthcare bill on Medicaid funding had one mother speaking out on Sunday.
Sarah Byrd says her 1-year old-daughter Aria began having seizures when she was three months old.
“If it weren’t for Medicaid we wouldn’t have been able to have all of the medical procedures that were needed to find out what was going on,” Byrd said.
Planning to start her new job next month, Byrd says it has been the Medicaid coverage she’s had in between jobs that has counted the most.
That is why she says the thought of not qualifying for coverage in the future is so scary.
“Between now and then, I won’t have in insurance. If it weren’t for Medicaid, I wouldn’t have insurance, Aria wouldn’t have insurance,” Byrd said.
The Senate could vote on their version of the House healthcare bill this week.
