TYLER - Nine Tyler ISD students were selected to participate in Education in Action’s 2016 Lone Star Leadership Academy this past spring and summer.
These students were among 1,141 students across Texas who were selected based on demonstrated academic success and leadership ability, educator recommendation and involvement in school/community activities.
Tyler ISD participants were Alan Cox, former sixth grader (now a seventh grader) at Moore MST Magnet School; Preston Rathbun, former fifth grader at Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy (now a sixth grader at Moore MST Magnet School); Chris Everitt and Ronelle Samson, former fifth graders at Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School (now sixth graders at Three Lakes Middle School); and Iesu Agapitu, Aiden Ebert, Sam Eckert, Zane Griffith and Peyton Martinez, all former sixth graders (now seventh graders) at Three Lakes Middle School.
During the week long, overnight camps these distinguished students developed leadership skills while learning about the great state of Texas. Participants experienced what they are learning in school through visits to historically, politically, scientifically and environmentally significant sites.
