Officials recover body of drowning victim from Coleman park in Athens

1:56 a.m.-According to Athens Police Chief Buddy Hill, James Riley Wallace's body was recovered just be 1:00 a.m.
 
The 19-year old was from Athens.
 
His body has been sent to Mesquite for an autopsy.

11:13 p.m. - According to Athens Police Chief Buddy Hill, the Athens Fire Department is currently using a raft to search the pond at Coleman Park.
 
The chief also tells CBS19 search teams are currently in recovery mode.
 
The Longview Fire Department Dive Team is also en route to search for the possible drowning victim.
 
The chief believes the individual who did not resurface is either 18 or 19 years old.
 
We will update this story as we receive more information.
 

 
Athens Police Chief Buddy Hill said officials were searching Thursday night for a possible drowning victim at Coleman Park, according to Henderson County Now.
 
Hill said police received a 9-1-1 call about the possible drowning at 8 p.m.
 
Hill said a group of older teens were at the pond at Coleman Park when one of them went for a swim. As the swimmer neared the middle, he struggled to stay on the surface. His friends tried to reach him, but he went under and did not come back up.
 
Hill said the search was under the direction of the Athens Fire Department and a Fire Department rescue boat was on the pond as well as a helicopter.
