Oil tank explosion under investigation, 2 in critical condition

SMITH CO. - A joint investigation is underway after an oil tank explosion happened on County Road 419 at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night. 

Smith County Deputy Fire Marshal Trey Glover was the first to arrive at the scene, located on the 22100 block of the county road where he discovered that an oil tank was on fire. 

The tank is owned by DSB Properties LLC. 

Glover also found two men who had sustained severe burns sitting inside of their vehicle.

The Smith County men, 30-year-old Jeremy Hernandez, and 25-year-old Aaron Archie, are both at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after being airlifted that night.

Smith County Fire Marshal, Connie McCoy-Wasson said he has "talked with one of the family members and they are listed as critical, but stable condition".

The joint investigation of the fire is being conducted by the Smith County Fire Marshal's Office, the Smith County Sheriff's Office, and the Railroad Commission of Texas.
