TYLER (KYTX) – Five more local children have found their forever families, thanks to East Texans willingness to open their hearts and homes.
It was March of 2010 when we featured Toni and her little brother, Alex, on CBS 19's "Children are a Gift" report.
"We're pretty tight, close, so we stick-up for each other and help each other out," Toni told us. Alex added, "I love her. I just love her!"
That bond grew even stronger after spending years together in foster care.
"My mom was a drug addict and an alcoholic. She left us there for days at a time without food and stuff and no clean clothes to go to school in," explained Toni.
"My dad should be in jail like 30 months or something like that," said Alex with a sad face.
These siblings told us how they longed to be given a second chance at a better life.
Alex said, "I want a family that doesn't yell almost every day." Toni added, "I'm not really very picky as long as I get an adoptive family who loves me."
Alex and Toni now have that love after finding their forever family.
Then, in September of 2010, we introduced you to three adorable siblings named Hailey, Aiden and Blake.
"How'd you get to be so cute?" I asked 6-year-old Aiden. "I don't know," he said sweetly.
They were all bright children who shared a wish to stay together. "Because they're the only family I have right now and I love 'em," said 8-year-old Hailey.
And they wanted unconditional love, something they never had. Their CPS caseworker told us what Blake said about adoption.
"These are his direct words. He wants a family that will love him even when he has his bad days," said Debbi Norton with CPS.
These siblings now have more good days than bad after being adopted together.
