Children Are A Gift: Donald

TYLER (KYTX) - With bright blue eyes,10-year-old Donald takes in all the sights at Tyler's Caldwell Zoo. "I like animals," he said.

"He's just a sweetheart. He gives the best hugs and he has the prettiest eyes, ever," said Kim Rhodes with Child Protective Services.

This young boy has been in foster care since 2006 and been bounced between nine different homes. A family will need to be patient letting him know he's safe.

Kim said, "He has a lot of anger based on all the moves he's had. He remembers a lot of what happened to him. Even though he was very young, he has a lot of memories that he needs to process through."

"I watched Power Rangers this morning," Donald explained as he tells me how much he likes cartoons.

Donald is very talkative and likes being around people. "He likes a lot of attention. He's very active. He's a neat little guy."

This fourth-grader needs help staying on task and requires assistance with school. He enjoys music, video games and would like to have siblings.

Donald thrives on attention and is ready for someone to love him unconditionally.

"I just explain [to him] that we haven't found the right family for him yet." Kim goes on to say, "He thinks nobody wants him and that's really hard to explain to a 10-year-old that there is somebody out there who wants him. It's just taking us a little bit [of time] to find them."
