TYLER (KYTX) – Jackson is an active young man. "I play sports. I play basketball and I love watching football," he said.
He's in the 8th-grade and makes friends easily. He also gets along well with others.
"He's a charmer," said Ashley Gipson, with Child Protective Services. "He's very intelligent, very on-target and well-behaved."
And he's already thinking about what he wants to do with his life. "I would just like to serve our country."
Gipson adds, "He has the ability to achieve anything he sets his mind to."
This 14-year-old also has a sensitive side. "I like to write poetry." Expressing himself through writing helps him deal with his past. "Jackson has been through a lot in life... and has come a long way," said Gipson.
He's spent several years in foster care struggling with why he doesn't have a family to call his own. But he's made great progress and is now ready to start over.
"He is now requesting that we find him a forever family. He's told his caseworker he is ready to be adopted," explained Gipson.
Jackson said, "[I just want] a nice family."
"A family for him is going to have to continue to provide him with structure, provide him with day-to-day routine that he needs, and be consistent with him and allow him to be a kid," said Gipson.
Jackson is open to having sibling and wants a family to know he's caring. "I'm real nice. I'd say the main thing is I have a loving heart."
