Palestine PD increases traffic enforcement during holidays

PALESTINE - The Palestine Police Department will be heightening their efforts to encourage safe driving during the holiday season by focusing on Driving While Intoxicated, seatbelt, child seat and speeding offenses.

According to police chief, Andy Harvey, the increased enforcement ties directly to keeping people safe, especially during the holiday season.

The Palestine Police Department was given a grant for this Selective Traffic Enforcement Program from the Texas Department of Transportation.

This STEP grant refunds the police department for the use of their officers and equipment for the additional enforcement.

According to the Palestine Police Department, the enforcement period will last until Dec. 31, 2017.
