Pilot instructor reacts to second plane crash in Tyler

Louie Thomas, a local pilot instructor, reacts after a second plane crashes along U.S. 69 on Tuesday.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of a plane crash in Tyler on Tuesday.

Preliminary crash reports have not yet been released.

Louie Thomas, President of the Historical Aviation Museum in Tyler, said that he was familiar with the plane that went down.

“In that airplane yesterday was a student pilot working on his private (license). and an instructor,” Thomas said.

When it comes down to it, Thomas said that pilots always need to be prepared.

“You have to plan for every contingency,” Thomas said.

In his experience, Thomas said private pilots can get a little rusty.

“It’s not that they are dangerous, they just don’t continue to read books and study,” Thomas said.
