Student facing expulsion for bringing gun to school

LONGVIEW - Officers from the Longview Police Department have identified the student who brought a loaded gun to Foster Middle School and he has been suspended.

A Foster Middle School staff member found the loaded gun in one of the school bathrooms.

Luckily, no other staff members or students were in that bathroom at the time.

According to a statement from John York, Principal of Foster Middle, any student who brings a gun to school is punishable by expulsion for one year.

The statement also mentioned that, "any and all punishment will be pursued to the fullest extent."

Principal York also added that students at his school are closely supervised by staff members and Longview PD officers throughout the day.

York ended his statement by saying, "the safety of your child is our number one concern."

Juvenile detectives from Longview PD are conducting an investigation regarding the incident with the Gregg County Criminal District Attorney's Office.
